About Us

MathQuack is a revolutionary new platform for creating and sharing digitized math content, with practical tools and analysis for both teachers and content authors. MathQuack also provides effective tutoring for students through step-by-step interactive instruction and thorough feedback.

MathQuack allows teachers and educational content authors to share their curricula, lessons and problems to create an interlinked web of concepts and prerequisites. Teachers may assign homework and tests online by selecting material from a large pool of exercises. Additionally, they are able to view individual students’ complete solutions as well as class trends. MathQuack takes teachers and students beyond multiple choice responses and strictly right or wrong answers. Our guided input system for entering complete solutions generates detailed feedback and part marks and provides real insight into students’ weaknesses. MathQuack helps teachers by marking students’ work automatically, and allows teachers to focus their lessons and personal attention on the issues the class is struggling with.

For students who struggle with assignments, built-in tutoring is immediately on hand in the form of responsive instruction with real-time feedback, practice sets with intelligent goal setting, prerequisite revision recommendations, and progress graphs. MathQuack instruction goes beyond video lectures. Our lessons take students through the material step by step, requiring active participation at every point, to retain attention. Students get guidance, examples, and links to possible knowledge gaps the moment they struggle with a problem, instead of a correct solution reveal if they get the wrong final answer. Our approach is always helpful and encouraging, celebrating progress and mastery.

Who's behind this?

MathQuack is the first venture of Dropdot Inc., a young and dynamic idea machine owned and run by Danielle Bakhazi and Floh Herra-Vega in Montreal, Quebec. Since Danielle started tutoring her peers in geometry in 1998, she has enjoyed helping hundreds of high school, college and university students through an assortment of math courses. Over the years she has achieved excellent results with her systematic approach to rescuing math haters and self-proclaimed hopeless cases, many of whom had had unsatisfactory experiences with previous tutors. She met Floh, also an experienced math tutor and a largely self-taught web developer with a passion for slick user interfaces and open APIs, while both were studying at McGill. Together they have left behind cushy corporate and freelance careers respectively to channel their experience and energy into MathQuack.
